At Welmont, we understand that this is often the first time your child will be away from you. Our playgroup, for children aged 1.5 to 3 years, is built to make that step feel safe and exciting rather than overwhelming. Through play, your child begins to build vocabulary, make friends, and grow more confident and independent, all at their own pace.
A play-led playgroup for children aged 1.5 to 3 years, in small, age-grouped batches with a warm 1:8 teacher-child ratio.
We build each day around play, not a fixed lesson plan, because that’s how toddlers learn best.
Where your child moves, dances and builds confidence in their body.
Music and rhythm that introduces new words and sounds.
Gentle, early exposure to language and phonics.
Picture books and guided listening that spark imagination.
Blocks, art and pretend play your child leads themselves.
Where sharing, turn-taking and small acts of independence happen naturally.
We call it the Happiness Quotient: our belief that children learn best when they feel happy and secure.
Our Virtuous Circle approach encourages teachers to reflect on their teaching practices and create a supportive learning environment that nurtures each child’s happiness, confidence, and development.
Explore the Program
Every child is different, so there’s no single age that works for everyone. We usually find a child is ready when they:
Can be comforted by someone other than you for short periods
Show curiosity about other children playing nearby
Follow simple two-step instructions
Nap on a fairly predictable schedule
If you’re still weighing the timing, our guide on the right age to start preschool can help. Comparing playgroups with daycare or nursery? Our playgroup vs nursery vs junior KG guide walks through each stage, and if you need care beyond playgroup hours, our daycare program extends the same warm environment through the day.
We’ve designed every centre with your child’s comfort and safety in mind, from toddler-scale furniture to hygiene routines you can see for yourself at drop-off and pickup.

Start AdmissionNot quite. Daycare covers longer hours for working parents. Our playgroup sessions are shorter and built specifically around early learning and social development.
Each playgroup session runs for 3 hours.
Not formally, not yet. At this stage, we focus on language exposure, listening skills and pre-writing motor skills like holding a crayon.
That’s exactly where the playgroup helps. Toddlers pick up vocabulary quickly through songs, stories and time with other children.
Of course, we’d encourage it. Please call and schedule a visit with our team.
A water bottle, diapers, a change of clothes, a small snack and a napkin.
The best way to know if Welmont’s playgroup is right for your child is to see a session in person. Schedule a visit at the centre nearest you.
